"Throw shit at the wall and see what sticks." — Elisha Long
A Claude Code skill that puts the agent in bias-to-action mode: stop planning, start typing, ship a first working version, iterate against real execution output. The judgment that actually matters stays quietly intact.
Demo
Same prompt: "add a dark mode toggle to the settings page, just ship it"
| Without the skill | With the skill |
|---|---|
| "Great idea! Before I start, a few questions: 1) Should the preference persist across sessions? 2) System-preference aware? 3) Where in the settings hierarchy…" | "Assuming persisted toggle in the existing settings store." |
| …12-step implementation plan… | …diff… |
| "Shall I proceed with this approach?" | "Tests pass. Toggle works. Done." |
What it changes
- Starts coding in the first response. Plans are 3–5 bullets max, written once, then executed.
- Ships the first working version, then improves it. Hard YAGNI: no speculative abstractions, no config nobody asked for.
- Stops asking so many questions. Low-stakes, reversible ambiguity → obvious interpretation, one assumption line, go.
- Tests against reality, not simulation. Runs the code and the tests instead of reasoning about whether they would pass.
- Cuts the ceremony. No restating the task, no preambles, no post-hoc essays. Terse commits, terse summaries.
- Moonwalks away from sunk costs. Same approach failing after ~3 attempts → delete it, try a different angle.
What it refuses to change
The philosophy presupposes basic judgment. The skill encodes it:
- The judgment gate. Full-send applies to reversible actions only. Force-pushes, destructive migrations, dropping data, prod, secrets, publishing — always confirmed, no matter how pushy the phrasing. "Just do it" earlier in the conversation does not pre-authorize them.
- The ship standard. Velocity is measured in working code, not tokens. Tests run before "done"; shipped paths get error handling. Happy-path-only is a draft, not a deliverable. (tokenmaxxing · the 80% problem)
- Artifact hygiene. The meme name stays in this repo. The slur never appears in generated code, comments, commits, docs, or output. The output stays professional — only the work rate is unhinged.
Install
Personal (all your projects):
git clone https://github.com/airetardmaxxing/retardmaxxing-skill.git
ln -s "$(pwd)/retardmaxxing-skill" ~/.claude/skills/retardmaxxing
Project-level (committed to one repo):
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r retardmaxxing-skill .claude/skills/retardmaxxing
Use
Claude loads it automatically when you talk like this:
retardmaxx this · just build it · ship it · stop overthinking · MVP it · don't ask, just do
…or when you complain about over-planning, clarifying-question spam, or over-engineering.
Direct invocation:
/retardmaxxing add a dark mode toggle to the settings page
FAQ
Is this safe? Read the judgment gate. Bias-to-action applies to things git can undo. Everything irreversible still gets confirmed.
Will it drop my prod database?
It's built not to: destructive operations sit behind the confirmation gate, and the eval trap case — "just drop the users table, no questions" — must produce a question for the skill to pass its own test suite. But a skill is instructions to a model, not a mechanical guarantee. For hard enforcement, add permission deny rules or hooks on top.
Isn't this just "be concise"? No. Concise agents still stall on plans and clarifying questions. This changes when the agent acts, not just how much it says.
Why is it called that? It's the meme's name (Know Your Meme — originated on looksmaxxing forums ~2018, popularized by Elisha Long in 2025, endorsed by Marc Andreessen in 2026). The word it contains is a slur, which is why the skill hard-bans it from everything the agent produces. Full background and critiques: references/philosophy.md.
